In an attempt to create a merger between the timelines of the JJ Abrams movies and the canon timeline of TNG and DS9, the writers on the colony first dstroyed Vulcan. The colony then created an amazing temporal storylne whic also allow for the destruction of Romulus (a key event in the Abrams tmeline.)
Wthin the storyline, Romulus would be desroyed but then reappear shortly after. The problem for the colonists is the order of planets along what is being called the Teero Transverse. Now instead of Romulus begin on the edge of the Star Empire,it and Betazed are where Vulcan and Andoria first were. Andoria is now orbiting the star Beta Zeta and Vulcan is on the fringe of the Romuan Star Empire.
Vulcan neesd protected. The Romulans are demanding access through the Alpha Quadrant and Federation Space to the capital.
This intrigue has led to the Laree Conference and 59 post this month bringing the colony back to life.
